Morning: How would it be possible to evoke impressionism without the cursed genius that was Vincent Van Gogh?
Through the streets of Auvers-sur-Oise, follow the steps of Vincent Van Gogh with your guide and discover all the places which have inspired him during his short but intense stay in Val d’ Oise; notably the Ravoux Inn, where you will be able to meditate in his bedroom during an emotional moment.

Afternoon: You will break through the Impressionist painters’ world by visiting the château of Auvers-sur-Oise. Its multimedia visit called ‘A trip back in the times of the Impressionists” will take you into the great painters’ XIX century daily lives. Masters such as Daubigny, Pissaro, Cézanne, Monet and of course Van Gogh have marked the history of Auvers-sur-Oise.

Day 2
Three artists: three places of life

Morning: Meet your guide at the Tourist Office of Auvers-sur-Oise and start your visit with the church and the cemetery and finish it with Van Gogh’s room at the Ravoux Inn.

Lunch in a traditional restaurant.

Afternoon: Your guide will then show you round Charles-François Daubigny’s house and workshop. The latter is a unique place where the inside walls have been entirely decorated with paintings. You will end your visit at Doctor Gachet’s house where the Impressionist spirit, which pervaded the place, still remains.

Day 3
A tribute to the Green Fairy

Morning: Enjoy a walk in the small streets of the village to discover the places which have inspired the impressionists so much.
You will be told the habits and costumes of the inhabitants of Auvers-sur-Oise and their ways of life.

Lunch in a traditional restaurant on the theme of Absinth.

Afternoon: Meet the green fairy and discover the history of this drink made famous by impressionist artists at the Absinth museum. The making ritual of this legendary spirit which has inspired painters so much, will be revealed. A tasting will be offered to those brave enough to try it!

Day 1
From Vétheuil to La Roche Guyon

Morning: The village of Vétheuil, made famous by Claude Monet (1840-1926), will invite you to discover the history of impressionismand its painters. Guided by the “ghost” of Camille Monet, the famous painter’s wife, you will appreciate what makes Vétheuil a land of inspiration for artists of yesterday and today.

Afternoon: With a guide, you will set out to conquer the XV century château of La Roche-Guyon overlooking the Seine and its XII century keep which has stood up for nearly 1,000 years at the top of the cliff as well as its vegetable garden.

Day 2
Gardens and outstanding châteaux

Morning: Greeted by the owner of the estate, you will be able to discover the château of Ambleville and its Italian styled cascading gardens.

Afternoon: Meet at Chaussy where you will be charmed by the Estate of Villarceaux. Your guide will tell you about the history of this outstanding place including two castles and magnificent “JardinsRemarquables”.

Day 3
A day at the country

Morning: Meet at the château of Théméricourt (XV century), the head office of the Regional Nature Park of Vexin Français for a poetic walk in wood land. Your guide will show you the trees through poetry, literature or even cinema. This original visit will be followed by a discovery of the Vexin Français museum.

Afternoon: Continue your walk to the “Jardin de Campagne”, a garden and a tree nursery where the owner will take you to a pastoral walk through her collection of old roses and perennial plants.

Day 4
Lunch with cabaret

Morning: With your guide, set out to conquer the XV century château of La Roche-Guyon overlooking the Seine, and its XII century keep, standing at the top of the cliff for nearly 1,000 years as well as its beautiful vegetable garden.

Option Genainville: The archeological site of Genainville will welcome and plunge you in Antiquity. You will visit a Gallo-Roman sanctuary, an amphitheatre with outstanding dimensions which will immerse you in the Pax Romana era.

Option Julius Caesar: With a guide of the Regional Nature Park of VexinFrançais, you will go for a cultural walk on Chaussée Jules César, a strategic route built by the Romans to move across the Vexin.

Option Guiry-en-Vexin: The owner of the château of Guiry-en-Vexin will welcome you and show you around the wonders of his property. The visit will end with a wine tasting session in the cellars of the château.
